Hey beautiful people! It is FINALLY starting to feel a bit like Fall here in Southern California, but unfortunately most days are still in the 90’s. YES, the 90’s. I’m not so patiently waiting for temperatures to drop so that I can break out my beloved teddy coats. Until then, the best I can do to stay seasonal is switch up my color palate. My favorite tones this Fall are mauve, peach, beige, and burnt orange. I gravitate towards the muted versions of these tones because they serve as neutrals and go with basically everything. Keep reading to fund out my favorite ways to transition from Summer to Fall here in California as we suffer through an Indian summer.
TIP 1: LAYERS
To get more use out of your crop tops, I recommend layering them over your favorite tee shirt. For days that we just aren’t sure if it will cool off in the evening, I love to wear my favorite crop top over a tight white tee. I got this mauve faux patent leather crop from Femme Luxe! I feel that this tone is on the more pink side of the mauve spectrum, and love how it compliments my blonde hair and fair skin tone. The leather texture really gives a nod to Fall fashion. I saw TONS of gals wearing leather during September at New York Fashion Week, and just had to jump on this trend Indie Gypsie Style: PINK! Check out some of my favorite ways to wear this leather layering trend. (images via Pinterest)
TIP 2: BLAZER
I have always been a fan of the long line blazer, especially for Fall. Since it is still quite hot, I have been able to utilize my summer mini dresses for a few months longer by pairing them with a blazer or duster coat. I am wearing this super trendy dress by Femme Luxe in the image above, and decided to pair it with my lightweight + oversized mauve blazer. I also recommend getting a plaid blazer ASAP, as this is my ultimate Fall staple. I love mixing texture, but I also love a tonal satin look as pictured below. This look could honestly be worn year round here in California. To keep the fall vibes, I recommend wearing your favorite pair of over-knee boots or good ole Doc Martens to spice it up. Thrown on a neutral wide brim hat, and you’ve got yourself one cute outfit.
TIP 3: CINCHED TOPS
During the Fall months, I prefer my outfits to be full of texture. This rouched top from Femme Luxe is SO flattering, and can be worn at different lengths for different temperatures. On warm Indian summer days, I love to cinch this all the way up into a crop and pair with my easy breeze satin pants. For cooler days, I leave this top full length and pair it with some dark wash + high waist denim. Another way you can rock a rouched top is with a dramatic flared skirt. I recommend pairing a mauve top with an off-white skirt for the perfect neural color palate.
TIP 4: CO-ORDS
God Bless athleisure. I am so happy that this style is accepted as fashionable in public, because joggers are my jam. I love to mix styles by throwing a blazer over my favorite Femme Luxe co-ord, for a cozy yet sophisticated look. I feel like a nude tone set paired with a mauve blazer is to die for. You can dress it up with a pair of pumps, or keep it casual in your favorite pair of sneaks
So, to survive this Indian Summer, remember to rock your mini dresses and crop tops a bit longer by layering them with blazers + tee shirts. An essential piece in your wardrobe needs to be an adjustable + cinch-able top to give you options on length to survey the erratic weather. Lastly, I recommend keeping a co-ord set handy to wear alone or layered with a mauve toned blazer or duster. I hope I was able to inspire your transitioning wardrobe!
