Hey Gypsies!

Winter is basically #fakenews in California. It is mid December, and the temperatures are just now dropping into the low 70's. UGH. I just want to wear my furry coats + winter boots without sweating my a$$ off. Unfortunately, I wont be able to until January. Until then, I'll just be rocking light layers. During late Fall and early Winter, my favorite wardrobe hack is layering warm neutral tones and textures. I love the look of a waffle knit sweater underneath a teddy coat because mixing these textures adds dimension to an outfit. A waffle knit sweater is a great option this time of year because it is lightweight and looks amazing layered underneath basically anything. Another hack to dressing for a California winter is mixing summer and winter items into one look. I have been loving the look of a cropped sweatshirt with bike shirts + a light jacket layered over top. Femme Luxe has me covered and is getting me through my seasonal confusion with their selection of amazing basics! I have been living in the Farrah Nude Cycling Shorts + Cropped Black Sweatshirt. Keep scrolling for ways to style these California Winter essentials.

CROPPED SWEATSHIRT + BIKE SHORTS

For days that are a little chilly, but still sunny and 75 degrees, I recommend layering a cropped sweatshirt over your favorite pair of bike shorts. I absolutely love to style winter whites + neutrals, so I chose to pair the Femme Luxe Black Cropped Sweatshirt + Femme Luxe Farrah Nude Cycling Shorts together for a comfy and casual look. I recommend layering a neutral toned shirt-jacket for fall vibes, or even a tweed blazer to mix in some bold texture. Throw on your favorite pair of sneakers + designer crossbody and you've got yourself the perfect casual outfit. This is a great look for running errands, a casual day-date, or even just something to throw on to walk your dog and still look chic.

CROPPED SWEATSHIRT + RIPPED JEANS

In California, ripped jeans are a year round staple. A pair of jeans + a cropped sweater has been such a popular outfit lately, and it has become a timeless favorite of mine. I love to wear a cropped turtleneck sweater with a pair of light wash denim for an effortless yet cozy look. The Femme Luxe Black Cropped Sweater looks great with a pair of mid-wash denim + a warm brown teddy coat. To elevate the look, swap our your teddy coat for a pea coat or even a faux fur number. Add a beanie and cozy boots and you are ready for a California winter day.

MONOTONE CROPPED SWEATSHIRT + PANTS

My obsession with neutrals is a year round thing. I absolutely love the look of a single toned outfit, especially this time of year when it is cool enough to layer a lightweight trench overtop. My current go-to look is a nude cropped sweater paired with some nude high waist + wide leg trousers. This look can be easily dressed up or dressed down. For daytime, I like to pair it with a crossbody + sneakers to give it a more casual vibe and then swap out sneakers for pumps to make it more date night friendly. This look is sure to get you some compliments.

SWEATER DRESS + BIKE SHORTS

Another way to transition your collection of bike shorts into the winter months is by pairing them with a snuggly sweater dress. I like to pair similar colors to keep the look as monotone as possible. Choosing similar colors and elevates your style and keeps you looking put together. It's my favorite trick for when I dont want to put effort into an outfit, but still look great. I recommend pairing this look with some high socks + sneakers, or UGGS. You can even add some leg warmers if its a bit of a cooler evening.

I hope this blog post has given you some outfit ideas and helps you transition your favorite summer pieces into the Fall and Winter months. In addition to amazing basics, Femme Luxe has a variety of gorgeous Christmas party dresses, co-ords, satin dresses, and glitter dresses for all of your upcoming events. Happy shopping, gypsies!
