THE SECRET TO FINDING PHOTOSHOOT LOCATIONS

Hi loves! I've been working on this post for awhile now, and I'm so excited to share my secret to finding my photoshoot locations. My creative process usually starts with the location, so it is crucial that I find the perfect spaces to shoot in.

I used to utilize Airbnb to find homes to shoot in - but this got messy because home owners started cracking down and charging ludicrous photoshoot fees. After months of researching methods of location scouting, I finally discovered Peerspace. The best way to describe this app is a Pinterest + Airbnb combo. Peerspace allows people to list their spaces for others to rent by the hour, and you can save your favorite listings to boards to easily come back to. For instance, I organize mine by city - so I have a "Los Angeles" board, a "Joshua Tree" board etc. New spaces are always popping up with lower introductory rates, so make sure you're consistently checking the app and take advantage of the short-term discounted rental rates :) I usually rent spaces for 2hrs (some have higher minimums) and I've found that I'm able to shoot about ten looks within this time frame. I suggest timing yourself next time you shoot, so that you can see how quickly you are able to get your looks in so that you don't run out of time when renting a space. Allow at-least 20 minutes for combined set-up/tear-down time, that way you aren't charged a fee for going over your time limit.

One of my most asked questions in my DM is to link my favorite studios, so in today's post I am sharing links to all my favorite spaces + samples of content we have created there! I hope this inspires you to get out there and create!

SEARCH: SPACIOUS MODERN DTLA LOFT

I booked this space in Downtown Los Angeles to shoot a few product based campaigns, and it was ideal. Our session was booked from 2-4pm in May, and the light was gorgeous. I especially loved the convenience of the built in parking garage with an elevator that takes you straight from the underground garage to the studio level. It's valet as well, so make sure you have $9 cash :)

SEARCH: CHANADO HILLS 5 ACRE OPEN AIR DESERT STUDIO & STONE HOUSE

Located in Pearblossom Ca, this gem has the most gorgeous landscape and unique props. From a vintage refurbished bus to a glass phone booth, you' wont run out of photo ops. We booked our session from 5-7pm in May, and the light was absolutely perfect and the host Charlie is the sweetest.

SEARCH: DTLA PENTHOUSE CORNER STUDIO LOFT

What drew me into this studio was the even natural light and the simple framed walls. We used this space to shoot our holiday content, and I am thrilled with how dreamy it all turned out. Since shooting in December, the studio owner has added stunning new furniture and I am planning to book my next session soon :) The below images were taken between 1pm and 4pm.

GOOGLE: FD HILL 6

This location is not on Peerspace, but google FD Hill 6. This Moroccan themed studio is absoltely gorgeous! From the simple staircase to the freestanding tub with a working shower, it is such a fun space to create in. There is also a movable archway that is incredible, and they have tons of greenery you can play around with.

If you aren't familiar with FD - I'm about to change your life. They have tons of beautifully themed studios to choose from! The walls of Hill 6 are much more pigmented in person, but they were easy to edit to have the coloring that you see in my images.
